lager

The word Lager comes from the German word for storage. The term lager encompasses a family of beers arising from Bavaria and the surrounding areas, when beer could only be brewed during the cooler months of the year, and characterised by a crisp, clean malt profile, subdued use of noble hops and crystal-clear appearance. Lagers are brewed using bottom-fermenting yeast. Lagers can run the full range from malty to hoppy.
